Its difficult to imagine a more attractive evergreen than the Japanese Red Pine. The trunks red color gives away its identity in that it has flaky bark that exposes orange tints upon peeling. Against the blue sky it can't help but catch the eye. To the Japanese the Red Pine (Matsu) is feminine and the Black Pine is masculine. The evergreen needles, two to a bundle are slender soft and dark green. It has abundant seed cones similar to Scots Pine. Evergreen. Keep outdoors.
